Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione’s successor coming in 2010

Alfa Romeo will launch a successor for the 8C Competizione in 2010, just in time to celebrate the company’s centenary. According to AutoCar the car could be based on the Ferrari California.

“It would be great if Ferrari let us do it,” Alfa Romeo’s global marketing director Sergio Cravero said, “but they are very hard to convince.” The 8C project will have broken even, financially speaking, by the time the 500 Spiders currently under construction have been delivered.

The future 8C will be a front-engined, rear-wheel-drive model built in limited numbers.

Alfa Romeo 159 Sedan Spotted in the U.S., car news and reviews.

We spotted this euro-spec Alfa Romeo 159 sedan on a flatbed traveling down I-94 in Michigan. It’s anyone’s guess what it’s doing here, but we do know that Alfa plans to bring a revised 159 (and several other models) to the U.S. beginning in 2009.

The model seen here is fitted with Alfa’s 150-hp, 1.9-liter diesel four. The car is also offered in Europe with a larger diesel as well as a choice of three direct-injected gas engines. First Alfa Romeo Spider was unveiled in 1966. Since then six generation were produced and delivered all over the world. Today the current version of the Italian vehicle received a new body kit from Novitec, a well-known tuning company specialized in customizing high performance vehicles.

The new body kit contains a re-designed front spoiler, new side skirts, rear spoiler with integrated exhaust system featuring four 115×85 millimeters large oval pipes which ensure an optimal sound of the engine. In order to make the car more comfortable on any type of roads, the tuner installed an adaptive suspension kit which can lower the car up to 75 millimeters. Also 20 inch alloy wheels are available with 255 tyres providing better handling. Price of the kit: 5,762 euro

Alfa Romeo Mito GTA coming in summer 2009

Alfa Romeo confirmed it will unveil a hotted-up version of its new Mito supermini in summer 2009. The GTA version will be powered by a 1750cc, turbocharged engine that will deliver 230bhp.

It will include direct injection, variable valve timing and Alfa says it is set to be the most powerful car in the sector.

The 1750cc engine was used for the first time in the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Giuliettas of the 1960s and was a real success.
